The Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) and the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering closer collaboration to promote arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in bilateral commercial relations.
The MoU was officially executed on September 3, 2025, at BIAC’s office located at Unique Heights, 13th Floor, 117 Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Dhaka. The agreement was signed by Mr. K.A.M. Majedur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BIAC, and Mr. Md. Anwar Shahid, Vice President of JBCCI, in the presence of their respective witnesses.
Mr. A.K.M. Ahmedul Islam BABU, Director of JBCCI, and Mr. Mohammad Anisul Haque Emran, Senior Counsel at BIAC, attested the MoU, underscoring the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in arbitration, mediation, and related ADR initiatives.
This partnership aims to facilitate the resolution of commercial disputes arising between Bangladeshi and Japanese businesses
through efficient ADR mechanisms. Both institutions intend to collaborate on joint training programs, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of best practices in arbitration to support the growing trade and investment relationship between Bangladesh and Japan.
The MoU reflects BIAC’s continued dedication to expanding its international partnerships and promoting ADR as a preferred and effective dispute resolution method in the region.
