The Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) held a high-level meeting with the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) at CIETAC’s office in Beijing on August 26, 2025. The meeting took place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the VIP Room on the 8th floor of the CCOIC Building, located in Xicheng District.
Representing CIETAC were Mr. Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General; Ms. Lu Fei, Director of the Business Development Division; Ms. Lu Yahan, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Division; and Ms. Mao Qingyu, Case Manager of the Business Development Division. Leading the BIAC delegation was Mr. K.A.M. Majedur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BIAC.
The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration between the two arbitration institutions, with a particular emphasis on expanding mutual support in arbitration and mediation services. Both parties expressed commitment to fostering stronger bilateral cooperation to promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in Asia.
Special attention was given to sharing expertise on business development, intellectual property dispute resolution, and case management to improve ADR accessibility and efficiency for parties engaged in cross-border disputes. The meeting further underscored the mutual interest in promoting capacity building and joint training programs to elevate ADR standards regionally.
This strategic engagement aligns with BIAC’s ongoing efforts to build international partnerships and integrate best practices to serve the growing demand for effective and reliable dispute resolution in Bangladesh and the broader Asian region.
