The Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) successfully organized a one-day professional training programme titled “Alternative Dispute Resolution: Methods in Human Resource Management” on 29 January 2026 at the BIAC Auditorium in Dhaka. The programme aimed to enhance practical knowledge of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms and their effective application in managing workplace and employment-related disputes. Participants included human resource professionals, legal practitioners, corporate executives, and academics
from diverse sectors.
The training commenced with a session conducted by Mr. AKM Mafrul Haq, a highly experienced HR professional with over 18 years of leadership experience across local conglomerates and multinational organizations. Currently serving as General Manager (HR) of IFAD Group, Mr. Haq has successfully facilitated leadership and management development programs for over 200 managers in industries including Automobile, FMCG, RMG, Cement, and
Manufacturing.
His session focused on the practical integration of ADR techniques within organizational human resource management frameworks. Drawing on his expertise in leadership development, performance management, change management, and organizational effectiveness, he highlighted how ADR mechanisms can resolve workplace disputes, improve employee relations, and strengthen employer–employee engagement.
The second session was facilitated by Ms. Rawnak Jahan, Barrister-at-Law, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, who provided a comprehensive legal perspective on ADR in employment and workplace disputes. With significant experience in corporate law, labor and employment law, and alternative dispute resolution, Ms. Jahan has advised numerous organizations on mediation, arbitration, and legal compliance.
Her presentation covered the legal foundations of mediation and arbitration, relevant statutory provisions, and emerging trends in dispute resolution practice. Through practical illustrations and case-based discussions, she demonstrated how ADR mechanisms can be applied effectively while ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and adherence to the legal framework.
The programme concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, during which certificates were presented to participants by Mr. K. A. M. Majedur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BIAC, along with the two distinguished trainers. The ceremony marked the successful completion of the programme and recognized participants’ commitment to professional development and capacity building in dispute resolution.
The event was successfully coordinated by BIAC Secretariat members, including Senior Counsel Mohammad Anisul Haque Emran and Assistant Counsel Sanjida Sohana. All IT and technical support for the programme were efficiently managed by Amit Das, IT and Administrative Officer at BIAC, ensuring smooth execution of the sessions.
BIAC extended its sincere appreciation to the trainers for their insightful contributions and to all participants for their active engagement throughout the programme. With the successful completion of this training, BIAC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting effective, professional, and sustainable alternative dispute resolution practices, particularly in human resource management, contributing to a more efficient and harmonious workplace environment in Bangladesh.
